Transforming Lives

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Rev. Dr. Dwayne Barnes grew up in the Farragut and Bushwick Houses. After experiencing years of homelessness and the hardships that many young men face, Dwayne joined the Christian ministry Teen Challenge, a drug and alcohol treatment facility. His ministerial career began because of this curriculum. After graduating from the program in 1993, Dr. Barnes was given the chance to serve as a counselor within it. After graduating from the program in 1994, he started leading a sober and clean life. In 1994, Dr. Barnes met his present wife of 26 years, Angela Barnes, and the two were married in 1997. 

After completing his studies, Dr. Barnes obtained an Associate's degree from Borough of Manhattan Community College in 2001, a Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies from New York City College of Technology in 2008, a Master's degree in Religious Education and a Graduate Certificate in Executive Leadership from Liberty University in 2014, and a Doctorate from Community Bible Institute and Seminary in 2015. From 2012 to 2014, Dr. Barnes would be the Chaplain for the NYS Chaplain Task Force. 2014 saw Dr. Barnes certified as a marriage officiant by the City of New York. After being licensed as a minister in 2015, Dr. Barnes was ordained as a pastor in 2016 by Stretching Far & Wide Global Ministries, where he would serve as Senior Pastor in Red Hook, Brooklyn, for two years.

Dr. Barnes is presently a member of the African America Elected Officials and Clergy Committee, a member of the NAACP's civil engagement committee and a member of Assemblywoman Latrice Walker's advisory board. Dr. Barnes works with the organization Faith in NY , a community organization consisting of various people of faith who discuss the needs of the community and advocate for change.  He also serves as a member of Community Board 16 in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Dr. Barnes is the President and Co-Founder of More Than Conquerors Production, Inc., a 501c3 faith-based organization dedicated to the uplifting of people by showing the Love of Jesus Christ. Dr. Barnes is committed to improving his community as well as God and family first. In Brooklyn, Dr. Barnes and his spouse provided pastoral care to the residents of Bushwick's Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center by visiting and engaging with them. For several years, he and his spouse have given toys to the neighborhood children during the Christmas holidays as well as blessings bags during Resurrection weekend, all while continuing to offer prayer for those who seek it. 

Dr. Barnes will never stop working to better the lives of people. Dr. Barnes's conviction that helping others is his calling is sustained by his faith in God.

Born is Brooklyn, New York, Evangelist Angela Barnes grew up in Atlantic Towers located in Brownsville Brooklyn and has been in this community for over 47 years. Here, she raised her two beautiful children with her husband of 27 years, Dr. Dwayne Barnes.  Evangelist Barnes went to the area elementary school (P.S. 178) and area middle school(I.S. 271).  She went on to high school and attended college where whe obtained her Associates Degree in Business Administration from Borough of Manhattan Community College, her Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from The School of Professional Studies, her Master's Degree in Human Services from Capella University and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Human Services.    Evangelist Barnes attended The Bible Institute of Brownsville Community Baptist Church, where she completed four years and graduated as Salutatorian.  Upon completing her studies, she continued her ministry  serving as worship leader for Stretching Far and Wide Global Ministries. Her husband Dr. Dwayne Barnes served as Senior Pastor in Redhook, Brooklyn.  After serving Redhook for two years, Angela serves as Vice President alongside her husband Dr. Dwayne Barnes in their  ministry More Than Conquerors, Productions, Inc. Evangelist Barnes serves in the capacity as Administrator and has also served as a Certified Fitness Instructor for the past 6 years.  Evangelist Barnes is a believer in not only catering to the body, but the mind and spirit as well.  Evangelist Barnes along with her husband  is dedicated to helping improve their community by continuing to uplift people and show the love of Christ.
